Ms. Reiko's Bio

Born and raised in Japan, Ms. Reiko started learning piano  when she was 3 years old. She is a graduate of Musashino Academia Musicae in Tokyo, where she received a B.M. In Classical Piano Performance. She worked as a piano accompanist for the Fuji Choir and as a forte piano player at the Min-On Music Museum in Tokyo. 

Ms. Reiko taught at the Yamaha Music School in Chiba, Japan, for 9 years and is a certified Yamaha Education System music teacher. She periodically attends Yamaha education conferences for teachers where she continues to learn new ideas and techniques on teaching piano to beginners and how to make learning music fun.

In 2007, Ms. Reiko moved to New York and studied jazz under Garry Dial, Ray Gallon, Mike Holober, and Helen Sung. She graduated from the City College of New York in 2011 with a B.F.A. In Jazz Piano Performance and earned an M.M. In Music Education (Piano Petagogy) from William Paterson University of New Jersey in 2016.

In New York City, Ms. Reiko has performed at Apollo Theatre, Prospect Park Bandshell, Perk's, and many other venues. She also works as a piano accompanist for choir concerts at Midtown West School (P.S.212) and the Churchill School and Center and more. In addition to her private students, Ms. Reiko teaches at Florentine Yamaha Music School. She loves teaching music to children and enjoys learning together with them.
